Are you ready to pave the way?
A giant maze, silent disco and free food – three reasons to head down to the Quad front lawns from 11-3pm this Thursday. The other (more important) reason? To celebrate the gift of giving to support students and research as part of the Pave the Way 24-hour fundraising challenge.

Big expansion for New Colombo Plan
The Australian Government's New Colombo Plan (NCP) is expanding next year, to give 304 University of Sydney students the opportunity to undertake projects in twelve countries across the Indo-Pacific region. Last year, 20 undergraduate students undertook a research placement in Singapore as part of the NCP; next year there will be 20 programs in 12 countries for students to choose from.
Disability Awareness Week 7-11 Sep
Did you know 90 percent of disabilities are invisible? Each year the University of Sydney's Disability Awareness Week aims to educate students and staff about disability and celebrate diversity in our community. Join us for the activity-filled launch day on Monday 7 September, and get involved with other events during the week; including a screening of a documentary about one of our own students, mental health panel talks, wheelchair basketball and rugby demos, and much more.
Sydney Uni researchers debunk Paleo diet myths
Researchers from the Univeristy's Charles Perkins Centre and Faculty of Agriculture and Environment have struck a blow for carbohydrates in the diet debate, with new research suggesting early humans would not have evolved on today's 'Paleo' diet. Starchy carbohydrates were a major factor in the evolution of the human brain, according to the new study published in the Quarterly Review of Biology.

Healthy Sydney Uni seed funding
Healthy Sydney University's 2016 seed funding applications close next week. Download the application form from the website and email it to by Monday 7 September. (Note: due to a technical error, applications submitted via the online form will need to be resubmitted with the PDF form.)

  • The Student Centre has temporarily moved to level 2 of the Jane Foss Russell Building (downstairs from its usual location).

  • The University Learning Management System (LMS), MyUni Portal, and the Lecture Recording System (Echo360) will be unavailable from 6–9am Saturday 5 September.
