MONDAY 20 JULY

Get ready for ODay

Welcome back everyone – Semester 2 classes start up again next week, so it’s time to switch the brain over from holiday mode back into uni mode. If you're new, we have some tips to help you settle in and keep an eye on your inbox for an email checklist to help you get everything sorted. If you're back for round two in 2015 and didn’t get a chance to check out the huge Clubs and Societies program in Semester 1, the University of Sydney Union’s ODay on Monday 27 July is the perfect opportunity to sample the best bits of student life before settling into the uni routine again. It’s all happening on Eastern Ave from 10am–4pm. See you next week and best of luck for the rest of the year!

SYDNEY IDEAS  | Eating disorders in the spotlight

While there are many who suffer from eating disorders today in Australia, it often remains a topic too confronting and difficult to talk about. The Seymour Centre, Charles Perkins Centre and Sydney Ideas have teamed up to change this, beginning with the play, What is the Matter with Mary Jane?, an inspiring story of one woman's 12-year rollercoaster ride with eating disorders told with humour and honesty.
While there are many who suffer from eating disorders today in Australia, it often remains a topic often too confronting and difficult to talk about. The Seymour Centre, Charles Perkins Centre and Sydney Ideas have teamed up to change this, beginning with the play, What is the Matter with Mary Jane?, an inspiring story of one woman's 12-year rollercoaster ride with eating disorders told with humour and honesty.

To take the conversation further, Sydney Ideas will host a special event following the Thursday 6 August show, inviting leading eating disorder specialists from the University of Sydney’s Charles Perkins Centre to discuss latest research and findings in the treatment and management of disordered eating diseases.

The panel discussion is free and open to all (just remember to register) and we encourage you to also see What is the Matter with Mary Jane? prior to the panel discussion. Students can quote promo code SYDUNI when booking online to get tickets for only $15 (normally $25/20).
