The nano-revolution starts here
Tiny things are attracting huge attention at the Australian Institute for Nanoscale Science and Technology (AINST), which had its launch last week. Top scientists from around the world descended on Sydney for a two-day conference to discuss the finer points of nanoscience, quantum computing and photonics. Find out more about AINST.
Cultures converge at International Day
Last week Eastern Avenue came alive with music, food and traditional performances by students from around the world for the USU’s annual International Day. Record gift to transform healthcare
Last week the University received its biggest-ever gift, a $35 million donation from the Susan and Isaac Wakil Foundation. This money will fund a purpose-built health precinct at Camperdown, where nursing, midwifery, medicine, pharmacy, dentistry and health sciences will come together under one roof.

Live entertainment on campus
Need something to break up the study sessions? Talented student performers are working the Manning Live stage each weekday from 3 to 5pm, while the Thursday Mix Up at Hermann’s Bar every Thursday from 4pm (till late) is the place to be for live music.

Applications are now open for USYD Update team member positions. USYD Update is produced by and for students, and releases new videos online every week during semester.
  • Is your honours project related to Southeast Asia? The Sydney Southeast Asia Centre is holding its annual Honours Bootcamp from 29 June to 1 July. Applications close on Friday 29 April.
  • As part of June’s Photography.Ontology.Symposium hosted at the University, postgraduate students and early career researchers are invited to attend a masterclass on photography history, theory and practice. If you’d like to participate, please register by Friday 6 May.
