Since 2006, the Careers and Employability Office has been offering its tailored and distinct services to all of our Business School students.
Achieving career aspirations for all of our students is a top priority for our Business School. Our team of dedicated business career experts offer a specialised careers and employability service for every student across all of our degree programs. Our career support includes strong linkages into industry and our corporate partners are featured in as many of our events and services as possible.

Business School students who engage early with career exploration, professional skill development and industry connections are best equipped to make their mark in today's complex and changing professional world.

Student Sourced Placements

Do you have an unpaid internship in Sydney over the Summer vacation?
Would you like to earn credit points towards your degree for the internship? If you answered yes, you may be eligible to apply for the Student Sourced Placement Program.

In recognition of the value that experiential learning adds to the development of a student’s employability skills the Business School is running a pilot over the 2017-18 summer vacation allowing students to earn credit for student-sourced placements. Placements must be relevant to your studies and approved by the School as meeting the relevant learning outcomes for the unit of study.  All placements and host organisations must be approved by the Business School prior to you enrolling in the unit of study.
 
Please note that there are two placement periods:

27th November 2017 to 5th January 2018 – applications close 29 Sep 2017 5pm

15th January to 23rd February 2018 – applications close 30 Oct 2017 5pm

NEXT Innovation Accelerator Program – semester 1 2018

The 'NEXT' Innovation Accelerator is a national work integrated learning experience supported by Deloitte, Westpac, IAG, and CSIRO. NEXT provides an opportunity for university students to step through a 12 week innovation accelerator program, gain real industry experience and essential professional skills.

NEXT is a for credit unit of study in the Masters of Commerce and Masters of Professional Accounting. Students are offered industry mentors, on-sight skills workshops, access to subject experts and the opportunity to pitch their innovations by Westpac, Deloitte, CSIRO and IAG.

The NEXT Innovation Accelerator will act as the catalyst for development of skills and attributes required to work in a globalised knowledge economy (innovation, teamwork, communication, critical thinking, intercultural working and leadership)

40K Globe

This summer, 40K Globe are looking to scale the platform to 1500 more children. 40K Globe is about joining a movement of young Australians who are actively providing access to quality learning in restricted environments across the world. 

Academic credit and funding is available for you to participate in the 40K Globe internship to rural India this summer. Interning in a team with six to eight other Globers, you’ll be intensely working over a month period to scope, implement and open a new 40K PLUS pod in a rural Indian village.

Awarded Australia’s most innovative social enterprise in 2016, 40K PLUS is an after-school education platform that utilises technology to provide primary-aged students living in rural India access to high-quality English education.

ACICIS’ Indonesian Business, Law and Society Program (IBLS) is a semester-long program hosted by the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII), Yogyakarta. $1000 Scholarship for VISION Leadership & Development Program

FINSOC has recently partnered up with E-LEAD to provide you, our beloved members, with a $1000 scholarship to participate in the VISION Leadership and Development Program! 

VISION is a highly immersive leadership and career development program that is developed using a contemporary leadership framework and is modelled on the leadership approaches used at the world’s leading business schools including Harvard, MIT, Yale and Wharton. The program integrates knowledge-based leadership learning, leadership and soft skills training and personal leadership development.

A large number of professionals, consultants and leadership coaches from the following organisations are engaged in various capacities to inspire and develop students during the course of the program:

Accenture, IBM, Citi, ABC, Qantas, Sydney Water, Telstra, Gallup, Morgan Stanley, HP, PwC, American Express, NBN, Deloitte, MedTech International, Unconscious Potential, WM Consulting, Glow International, Sydney Opera House, Hakluyt, Changing Change International and the Treasury.

UNIT Industry Insights Evening

UNIT invites high achieving students from all years to attend our second annual Industry Insights Evening, held at Citi’s offices in the Sydney CBD on Wednesday 20 September. The Industry Insights Evening is designed to provide attendees with a thorough understanding of the current trends and challenges experienced within the financial services industry, as well as an introduction to the recruitment process for internships and graduate positions.

There will be two panel discussions, covering the investment banking and global markets divisions, featuring panelists from some of Australia’s pre-eminent corporate advisory and securities firms including Citi, Macquarie, Goldman Sachs, UBS, Morgan Stanley, Nomura, J.P. Morgan, Westpac, Aberdeen Asset Management and PIMCO. This will be followed by networking over light refreshments.

Attendance is strictly by application only and closes at midnight, Friday 15 September.
