Australian Academy of Humanities
Applications for the Humanities Travelling Fellowships and Publication Subsidy Scheme will close on 10 April 2013.
The Australian Academy of the Humanities advances knowledge of, and the pursuit of excellence in, the humanities in Australia for the benefit of the nation.

Applications for the Academy's 2013 Humanities Travelling Fellowships and Publication Subsidy Scheme will close on 10 April 2013.

The Academy's Humanities Travelling Fellowship scheme provides support of up to $4,000 to enable early career researchers to undertake research overseas, including accessing archives and other research materials and connecting with international researchers and networks. 

The Academy 's Publication Subsidy Scheme provides support of up to $3000 for the publication of subsidy works of high quality in the humanities. Preference will be given to Australian humanities scholars in the early stages of their careers.

The Australian Academy of Science invites Expressions of Interest from junior scientists who are no more than 30 years of age, to visit the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the USA between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2014.
The Australian Academy of Science invites Expressions of Interest from junior scientists who are no more than 30 years of age, to visit the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the USA between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2014.

Proposals in any health-related field of natural science will be considered. Only citizens and permanent residents of Australia living in Australia at time of application are eligible to apply.

Under this scheme applicants are expected to be undertaking PhD study in an Australian institution or have an intent to enrol in PhD study in an Australian institution.

The deadline for expressions of interest for travel in 2014 is 14 June 2013.

Partnership project grants
The National Health and Medical Research Council Partnership Project Grants encourage researchers and partner organisations to form alliances to identify and conduct research projects which focus on health and health care policy and practice.
The National Health and Medical Research Council Partnership Project Grants encourage researchers and partner organisations to form alliances to identify and conduct research projects which focus on health and health care policy and practice.

Partnership Project applications must be joint submissions from a research group and one or more partner organisation.

Applications addressing indigenous health services are encouraged.

Grants are worth a maximum of AU$1.5m and projects may last up to five years.

The internal closing date for Sydney applications is 16 April 2013.

HCF Research Foundation/RACGP research grants
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners invites applications for the HCF Research Foundation/RACGP research grants. These support research into health services issues of relevance to general practice.
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners invites applications for the HCF Research Foundation/RACGP research grants. These support research into health services issues of relevance to general practice.

The HCF/RACGP research grants may be conducted on the following topics: access to care, effectiveness of care, quality of care, efficiency of care, or cost of care. 

The chief investigator of the applicant project must be a GP or GP registrar and a member of the RACGP. Two grants of up to AU$60,000 each are available for a duration of 12 months.

The closing date for applications is 6 May 2013.

Can you pitch your PhD in 150 seconds? AMP and Amplify Festival give PhD researchers the chance to collaborate with performance coaches to transpose 'geek speak' into an easily understood and entertaining pitch.

The Bright Sparks program accomodates for up to 20 PhD researchers. In addition to performance coaching and media training, all researchers selected to partake in Bright Sparks will receive $1,000.

Key dates:
  • Applications close 12 April 2013.
  • Finalists will be notified on 22 April 2013.
  • Bright Sparks PhD Pitch Night will take place on 4 June 2013.
