DVC Research, Jill Trewhella has been working with a team of researchers, legal and policy advisers to ensure the University‘s and the higher education sector’s needs were considered by the Senate committee overseeing the Defence Trade Controls Bill.

Applications for the University of Sydney Equipment Grant schemes close Friday 7 December.

This includes:

• NHMRC Equipment Grants scheme
• Sydney Collaborative Research Equipment Grants scheme
• Sydney Cancer Research Fund Infrastructure Grants scheme

Applications may be made for equipment purchased in 2012 or planned for 2013.

Parkinson's NSW is calling for applications for:

• one Bendigo Bank Parkinson's Research Grant up to the value of $50,000
• for seed grants up to $20,000 each excl. of GST and
• for biological/non-clinical and clinical/psychosocial research.

Antipsychotics are commonly used for management of behavioral symptoms among people with dementia. While there has been a reduction in antipsychotic use for dementia in the United States, its use has continued to increase in Australian residential care facilities.
