Sessions take place on campus, and typically last one to two hours. You will be paid for your time. You must be 18 years or over and a currently enrolled student of the University of Sydney. Make a valuable contribution to the lives and education of primary and high school students by volunteering just a few hours per week.Make a valuable contribution to the lives and education of primary and high school students by volunteering just a few hours per week. The Compass program works in partnership with schools across Sydney to deliver literacy support programs and enrich learning experiences. Applications are now open for 2012 volunteers. You will receive full training, transport reimbursement and the chance to gain valuable experience and meet new people. Opportunities for 2012 include: Word Up – a tutoring program for low-progress readers. This literacy program has been running successfully in 13 primary and high schools. Homework Club – this program provides group and one-on-one tutoring. Classroom Activity Facilitators – this initiative supports interactive activities for students who have attended theatre, history and science excursions at the University. Researchers from the School of Molecular Bioscience are seeking people concerned about their take-away food eating habits. The study will investigate peoples’ attitudes and behaviours towards their take-away food eating habits. To be eligible, you must be working full-time or part-time and aged 18 to 35 years old. Participation involves completing a questionnaire and participating in a focus group interview about your attitudes, beliefs and behaviours towards buying and eating take-away foods. This should take approximately one hour and you’ll be reimbursed for your time and travel. Contact Amelia Cook on 9351 4672 for more information.

Participate in an ongoing sound therapy study for the School of Psychology. Sound therapy involves stimulating the middle ear muscles with sound, which may impact on emotion, mood and associated physiology. This research examines the impact of sound therapy on brain and body function, and includes questionnaires on emotion and mood.
