JUNE 2012
FROM THE DEAN
Dear

Welcome to the June edition of eArchetype. I would like to take this opportunity to advise you of a new alumni initiative we plan to introduce next semester.

Architecture and Design Computing students have mentioned that they would very much appreciate alumni providing case study talks in addition to the Thursday Night Lecture program to help bridge the divide between architectural education and professional practice. They are looking for frank and open discussions based on a case study from professional practice, revealing what went wrong and how it was dealt with, as well as what went right.

It has been suggested that alumni, and potentially some of the more recently graduated alumni, might be interested in giving these talks on a pro bono basis. This type of mentoring is an invaluable opportunity for students to learn from their experiences and provides a very rewarding exchange for both the students and the mentors. If you have a case study you believe students could learn from, I invite you to contact Nell King for further information, or to register your interest in the program.

I have had the pleasure of meeting a number of you at alumni events over the last year and I am looking forward to meeting more of you at future alumni events.

Regards,
John Redmond | Dean, Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning
